Educational platform. Information supports — never replaces — clinical judgement and individualised patient care.
Mission

Three commitments

Accessible. No login, no paywall, no advertising, no commercial influence. The full content of NephroZayan is available to anyone with a browser, on any device, in any country.

Anchored. Every clinical page cites the current KDIGO, ISPD, KDOQI, or relevant national guideline; lists its last-reviewed date; and names the clinician who reviewed it. Calculators print their source equation beside the result.

Bilingual from the start. Patient-facing content publishes in English and Arabic, written — not auto-translated — by clinicians who speak both languages. Additional languages will follow as volunteer reviewers come forward.

Founder & Developer

Dr. Tariq Ahmed Zayan, MD, PhD

Consultant Nephrologist · Head of Nephrology, Sur Hospital · Sultanate of Oman

More than twenty years in nephrology and kidney transplantation, with sustained clinical, academic, and editorial work across CKD, transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, and sustainable nephrology. NephroZayan is built and edited single-handedly — every calculator, every chapter, every patient guide passes through one consultant's bedside test before it goes live. The platform is a personal commitment to the patients and clinicians it serves, not an institutional product.

Editorial policy

How content is made

Every page on this site follows the same workflow before it publishes:

  1. Drafting. A nephrologist or trained clinician writes the page against the most recent applicable guideline, with a structured evidence summary attached.
  2. Reference verification. Every citation is checked against the primary source for accurate attribution. Fabricated, misattributed, or out-of-date citations are corrected before review.
  3. Clinical review. A second clinician reviews the page for clinical accuracy and applicability across diverse practice settings.
  4. Patient-language review (patient pages only). A clinician fluent in the target language rewrites the page in plain, dignified prose — no auto-translation, no jargon, no condescension.
  5. AI-assistance disclosure per ICMJE 2025 standards where applicable.
  6. Annual re-review. Every page carries a last-reviewed date and is revisited at minimum annually, sooner if a major trial or guideline update warrants it.
Conflicts of interest

NephroZayan accepts no industry funding, no advertising, no sponsored content, and no paid placements. Contributors disclose all financial and non-financial relationships on their author pages.

The limits of this site

NephroZayan is an educational platform for clinicians, patients, and families. It is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified clinician who knows you and your circumstances. No content on this site creates a clinician–patient relationship. Use the calculators and summaries as a reference; let your own clinical team make decisions about your care.

Every effort is made to keep the site accurate and current. If you find an error, an outdated reference, or a citation that misrepresents its source, please report it via the contact link below — corrections are usually published within 48 hours.

Get in touch

If you have spotted an error, want to translate a page, want to contribute as a reviewer, or simply want to write — please email the editor at [email protected] (domain pending registration).

Patients should always discuss their kidney care with their own kidney team. NephroZayan cannot answer individual clinical questions and cannot accept clinical responsibility for any individual patient.

A note on this build

This is Phase 1 of the platform — the foundation pages and one fully working clinical calculator. Calculators, guideline summaries, patient guides, and green dialysis resources are being added on a rolling basis. The whole site is built to be extended; every new page reuses the same components and follows the same review workflow.
